Sanpellegrino, a leader in the mineral water and non-alcoholic drinks sector, celebrates the World Environment Day by announcing that it has begun the process for getting certified according to the international Alliance for Water Stewardship standard for two S.Pellegrino plants: San Pellegrino Terme (BG) and Acqua Panna in Scarperia (FI).
For several years now, the Group has been committed to efficient water resources management with projects aimed at reusing, reducing, recycling water used in its production activities. In 2019, the Group saved 307 million litres of water, coming to use only 0.60 litres for each litre bottled. The certification process should end by the end of 2020 for S. Pellegrino and in 2021 for Acqua Panna.
The Group last year obtained the AWS certification for the Nestlé Vera production site in Santo Stefano Quisquina (AG). It is intensifying its commitment to the management of water resources by certifying the factories where S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna are bottled, ambassadors of Made in Italy on tables all over the world.
AWS certification rewards the way in which companies take care of this resource by respecting the water balance, sharing knowledge and collaborating with the territory to preserve and improve the quality of the available water and of the surrounding areas. A commitment that Nestlè Waters took on in 2017 by deciding to certify all its production sites in the world, including the Sanpellegrino plants in Italy.
