In 2011, the IICCI launched the project Indo – Italian Agri-Food Technology Center - IIAFTC, supported by Regione Emilia Romagna and in collaboration with Federunacoma, the Italian Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Association.

Its aim is to promote Italian technologies, machinery, products, and services in the entire agro-industry value-chain (farm mechanization, post-harvesting and cold-chain technologies, food processing, and food packaging) in India by organizing demonstrations, technical workshops, business leads generation, organization of B2B and B2C meetings, implementation of digital and print campaigns.

In 2017, IICCI launched the pilot project "Il Frutteto - The Italian Orchard in India", with a specific focus on fruit and vegetables and the horticultural segment. Its aim is to

1. Set up a network of orchards in the different Indian States utilizing Italian technologies, products and services such as:

   • Soil preparation, water management, and irrigation systems for the arable land

   • Selection of plant varieties, their planting, protection, and maintenance techniques

   • Post-harvest collection and storage systems

   • Technologies for processing and packaging

2. Develop, in collaboration with Italian and Indian universities and research centers, a training program for operators involved in the management and maintenance of the orchard

3. Facilitate and support the international growth of Italian and Indian SMEs through the organization of matchmaking activities and B2B meetings.
