Recovery rate improves, daily fresh cases dip by 15%: Crisil
India’s recovery rate improved to 84.8 per cent as of 16 May 2021 from 82.2 per cent a week earlier, as per a Crisil report. India’s Covid-19 curve has turned for the first time since the second wave began to take over the country as increasing lockdown restrictions appear to have moderated caseloads. Fresh daily cases came down by 15 per cent to about 360,000 on average after touching a high of 414,000 on 6 May 2021. The report also observed that daily vaccinations have dipped on account of availability bottlenecks with some states having to halt the vaccination drive for the 18-44 age group. Daily vaccinations came down to around 1,455 per million people for the week ended 16 May 2021 from 1,770 at the end of April 2021.
