Prosciutto di Parma PDO, Neapolitan Pizza, Lasagna on the World’s 50 best foods list 2020

Who hasn’t heard of Prosciutto di Parma PDO or Parma ham perhaps? This uncooked, aged Italian meat can be found in delis and restaurants around the world. Its exceptional flavour comes from a mix of traditional skills and exclusive ecological and environmental conditions, limited to the Region of Parma, Italy.

The ranking of CNN Traveller’s World’s 50 best foods has just been reorganized ensuring the presence of Prosciutto di Parma PDO, which comes in 31st place. Italy takes over two more spaces in the ranking with lasagna in 23rd place and hikes the podium because of Neapolitan pizza positioned in 2nd place.

The occurrence of Prosciutto di Parma PDO in the ranking is proof of its strong and budding reputation throughout the United States. It would be enough to say that only three years ago, in 2017, it was ranked 48th. CNN viewers have honoured the Italian tradition, the unquestionable flavour and sweetness of Prosciutto di Parma and its adaptability in pairings, especially with pizza, melon, breadsticks and salad.

The newest list of the 50 World’s Best Foods, introduced in September 2020, is an actual trip of the world of taste and the outcome of the American gastronomic past which is heavily influenced by foreign food cultures. The list is very diverse with Japanese, Indian, Vietnamese, Chinese, Venezuelan foods and dishes, without overlooking products fitting to the typically American culture such as popcorn, doughnuts and ketchup.
