Updated: Jul 1, 2021

On the initiative of the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hon Marina Sereni, a humanitarian flight of the Italian Cooperation departed this morning from the United Nations humanitarian aid base (UNHRD) in Brindisi to New Delhi airport, with a load of 8 tons of medical material for the fight against Covid-19.

The humanitarian load, donated by the Assicurazioni Generali Group and the Lombardy Region, is made up of 300 medical oxygen concentrators and 42 lung ventilators and will be delivered to the Indian Red Cross, which is at the forefront of activities to combat the spread of the epidemic in the country.

This is the third transport of medical material from Italy to India since the beginning of May, carried out in this case not only thanks to the collaboration with the Civil Protection Department within the framework of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism but also from the private sector, in an effort at the level of the country system aimed at providing an adequate response to the request for assistance made by the Indian authorities on 23 April last.
