3 Ideas for Roasted Fruit

We all want to get our diets under control after overindulging over the holidays. But what should you do if you get a yearning for something sweet? You don't have to go without desserts, don't worry. We've got you covered with these delightful roasted fruit recipes that will satisfy your sweet tooth while also providing nutritional value.

Roasted apples

This quick and easy meal isn't your typical baked apple recipe. Begin by washing and coring a couple different apple kinds. With the peel still attached, cut into wedges. Season the apple wedges with orange juice, brown sugar or honey, a pinch of nutmeg, heaps of cinnamon, and coarsely chopped almonds in an ovenproof dish. Bake for 15 minutes at 390°F (200°C) in a very hot oven, then serve in their warm syrup with a tablespoon of freshly whipped cream.

Roasted pears

Season with mandarin juice, hand-broken walnuts, crushed cinnamon, and ground ginger, then dice or slice the pear into wedges. Cook them according to the directions in the preceding recipe. The combination of roasted pears and creamy ricotta cheese with a spoonful of honey is delicious.

Roasted seasonal fruit salad

Start by chopping the selected seasonal fruit if you want to prepare a warm fruit salad (i.e. apples, pears, oranges, persimmons or grapes, and perhaps some sweet vegetables like fennel and carrots). For a more rustic flavour, season with orange juice, honey or sugar, and rosemary sprigs. Use mint leaves instead of rosemary if you don't like the flavour. After the fruit has been roasted, add some fresh pomegranate seeds for colour and a tart note that balances out the sweetness of the roasted fruit.
