The fifth free awareness program of the series DISCOVER ITALY THROUGH ITS CULINARY TRADITIONS, organised by the IICCI and ALMA - The International School of Italian Cuisine as part of the project True Italian Taste, was dedicated to the subject of Italian PIZZA

It was a brief conceptual journey through the global Pizza scene, which highlighted the many iterations of this easily recognisable and universally appealing dish.

In Italy, on the other hand, the identity of pizza is clear and distinct, interwoven with historical events and the local production of some very specific products. Clarifying what Pizza really is in its homeland, the module celebrates its true form and subsequent evolutions, contextualising its fame and approachability.

The fundamental notions and principles at the core of Italian pizza making, a codified art and skillset, create the backdrop to an immersive experience, allowing for a better understanding of its history and the culture involved in making it so special.

After the opening remarks by Alessandro Liberatori, Trade Commissioner, Director of the Trade Promotion Office of the  Italian Embassy - New Delhi and Coordinator for India, Bangladesh, Sri  Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, Claudio Maffioletti, CEO of the IICCI, introduced the True Italian Taste project, whilst Andrea Sinigaglia, General Manager of ALMA presented the school. Following, Carlo Maria Ricci, ALMA Chef Ambassador and Binita Debnath, ALMA Graduate Ambassador took participants through the wonders of Italian Pizza.

The  webinar was aimed not only at professionals and students in the  hospitality and catering industry, but also to all those foodies who are passionate about Italian cuisine and culture.
