The Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IICCI) and the Italian Trade Commission (ICE), along with the Italian Cultural Institute and ENIT (Italian State Tourist Board), under the patronage of the Italian Embassy and the Consulate Generals in Mumbai and Kolkata, have announced the Italian Festival - Festa Italiana 2007.

The month-long festival will see representatives from several Italian sectors such as Construction; Metal Forming; Environment; IT and Innovation Technology; Nanotechnology; Ports and Logistics; Tourism; Food, Drink and Hospitality; Fashion; Education; and Music, who will participate in a variety of events ranging from seminars, round tables and B2B meetings to exhibitions, concerts, lectures and road shows.

Conceptualised by the Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce in 2002 as Festa Italiana, the event has played a vital role in promoting Italy in India as the ultimate tourist and business destination. This year’s edition will not only continue the tradition of bringing the Best of Italy to India, it will once again break new ground.

Italy is well known for its lifestyle-food, art, fashion, and culture, however, it should be known equally well that Italy is also a land of advanced technology and innovation. Re-named Italian Festival - Festa Italiana since last year, the event will especially focus on the Italy behind the glamour, by bringing to India IT specialists, eminent professors such as Enrico Dassori, professor of architecture at the University of Genova, and Assessore Fabio Gava, Minister for Economic Policies, Development, Research & Innovation and Institutional Policies, Veneto Region.

Italian Festival - Festa Italiana 2007 will introduce cutting edge research and innovation through our round tables in collaboration with 14 Italian universities, as also many other events on construction, nanotechnology, environment, ports and logistics, and food processing.

We will bring the best new Italian fashion trends through our Fashion Show organised with the support of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, which will showcase the collections of young Italian designers who have worked with brands such as Versace, Giorgio Armani and Dolce and Gabbana in the past. The Chamber's efforts to promote Italian fashion in India are bearing fruit since as many as 30 famous Italian brands have established their presence in the Indian market in recent years. This has been complemented with a jump in Italian apparel and textile exports to India.

There will also be the usual lifestyle events: Food festivals will feature cookery demonstrations and tastings; there will be film festivals, concerts and social events celebrating Italian language and culture.

Bringing all this and more, Italian Festival - Festa Italiana 2007, has been organised at the end of a rich and intense period of activities during a year for which the Government of Italy declared India as a focus market for Italian promotion. Italian Festival - Festa Italiana 2007 will present promotional, business and cultural events in six major cities: Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata and Pune.
