Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna is a university offering Masters and PhD courses, while for undergraduates it works as the Honors College of the University of Pisa. Potential undergraduates undergo a rigorous public examination, and only the very best are creamed off to combine their Pisa University studies with the extra options available at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, these students are called Honors College Students. Honors College Students live at the Scuola and study totally free of charge but have to get top marks in all their exams and show proficiency in two foreign languages.
Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna is also integrated with the Scuola Normale Superiore, another specialized university of excellence offering different courses. Together, Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, the Scuola Normale Superiore, and the University of Pisa make up the Pisa University System. This is a unique education and research model, which attracts students and researchers from all over Italy and from abroad, giving Pisa an internationally important role as a city of study, research and innovation.
Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna is also a renowned research centre in the fields of Experimental Sciences (Agricultural Sciences, Engineering, Medical Sciences) and Social Sciences (Economics and Management, Law, Political Sciences). Masters and PhD courses are offered, but again only to highly proficient students from all over the world (30% of the PhD students are not Italian).

Standard Courses – University education paths for highly talented that are integrated with the courses of the University of Pisa.
PhD courses and Doctorates focus on research areas of particular scientific and social importance, special attention being paid to the demands for innovation and modernization.
University and International Master's Degree Courses are aimed at furthering knowledge and expertise in innovative areas with strategic importance for the manufacturing and industrial world. All the Master's courses have a strong interdisciplinary and applied approach.
The Scuola offers short Training Courses on various issues (Peace-keeping, Human Rights, insurances, social policies, health and management, environment, etc.) mostly open to students coming from any part of the world.
Starting from academic year 2009/10, Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna is offering Masters of Science jointly with other Italian or foreign universities, which lead to Master Degrees (Laurea Magistrale) jointly awarded by Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna together with the other university involved. Courses are totally taught in English

Polo Sant'Anna Valdera (PSV) Training, Research and Start-up of new companies
In November 2002, Polo Sant’Anna Valdera - science campus - was set up to fully enhance the research activities of the Sant'Anna School, by housing some of its laboratories. These labs carry out scientific and technological research of excellence in many areas, including biomedicine, microengineering, robotics, mechatronics, virtual reality, information technology, plant biotechnology, and agricultural sciences.
The basic aim behind PSV is thus technological transfer. The idea is to create new innovative companies in high technology sectors, using a young, qualified and creative, human workforce trained in its research laboratories.
Centre of Excellence for Information, Communication and Perception Engineering (CEIICP)
CEIICP is a research centre of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna that integrates research on information technology, communication and networking, and perceptual robotics, both public and private.
By its nature, research conducted by CEIICP is characterised by a strong link between academic culture and industrial and applicative reality. The Centre aims to express itself as a reality which, while working in the field of ICT, also benefits from the contribution of different scientific (physics, materials science, mathematics) and techno-economic disciplines.
The Centre also provides high-level educational opportunities to students from all over the world, through advanced graduate programs in information and communication technology..
SIAF: International School of Advanced Education
The SIAF International School for Advanced Education aims to provide advanced executive education in the areas of management and technology. SIAF offers a unique educational experience which draws from its distinguished faculty, providing academic excellence in a variety of fields, whilst at the same time allowing participating individuals the opportunity to engage with their peers from a diverse set of organizational backgrounds.
